Carrot, a root vegetable in orange color with crisp texture. Carrots can be eaten raw but have to be washed first because it contains parasites and bacterias in its outer layer skin. The biggest producer of carrots is China, according to FAO.
B-Carotene, the most famous nutrient found in carrots is highly beneficial for eye health when metabolized into vitamin A. Proper cooking of carrots may increase the B-carotene content such as boiled, fried and pulping. Carrots are also rich in fibre, antioxidants and minerals.
People who lacks in vitamin A can be aided by eating carrots daily. Research shows that improved eye vision is one of the benefits of eating carrots. Other alternative for carrots is the carrot juice drink. It can be from carrot itself or mixed with other fruits and vegetables.Also high in antioxidant content, carrots is highly recommended to flush all those free radicals out of our body. It helps out immune system strong an healthy thus preventing the spread of cancer cells.
But did you know that too much consumption can also be a health risk? Over eating of carrots can cause Carotenosis, a benign condition in which the skin turns orange. But this disease is not a threat and consider as a case to case basis and curable.
For a healthy diet and good eye vision, always have a carrot in your meals and snacks. Always remember that prevention is better than cure.
