Health Benefits of Olive Oil

We all know that there are different kinds of oil available in the market today. Canola, vegetable, corn and other domestic commercial oils. Which one is better for our health? Which one to avoid using? Only Olive Oil is the best oil for you. Although ideal for dressing salads and pastas, olive oil is not recommended for frying foods.

Olive oil is a healthy fat which contains monounsaturated fats. These fats can lower your risk of heart diseases and certain cancers by reducing your bad cholesterol levels.

I tried this myself and was amazed by the power of olive oil. I consumed 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil after dinner for three months. The result was staggering as I lower my LDL level by 4 points from my previous test and my HDL level increased by 2 points. I thought at first that it might catapult my over all cholesterol level to high because I was actually drinking pure oil. Imagine that. The taste was awful but you will get used to it eventually.

But I am not recommending you to do exactly what I did. There are several ways to enjoy olive oil. Use it as a dressing in your vegetable salad, pastas and pizza. Just don't over heat the oil because it will lessen its health benefits.

Contrary to olive oils, tropical oils and hydrogenated oils can increase your risk of heart diseases because it increases your LDL cholesterol levels. Saturated fats and trans fats are abundance in these kind of oils. Fast food chains and other restaurants are using these kinds of oils because it is cheaper compare to olive oils. They of course want to maximize their profits. You must avoid them at all cost. Other sources of trans fats are butter, cheese and animal fats.

You may use olive oils as a substitute for saturated fats. Use "extra virgin" or "virgin" olive oils for your everyday use. Both has the same monounsaturated fats content. They also contain high levels of polyphenols, a very powerful antioxidant that also promotes cardiovascular health.

Get olive oil now in your nearest convenience store and pamper your heart with good cholesterol. Remember that prevention is better than cure.
