Stress - A Different Perspectives

You could find the word stress in this blog many times over various health posts. Why? Because stress is believed to be one of the factors that causes humans to develop various diseases. If I ask five people to define stress, the actual result or answer will vary on each person's perspectives on how they define this condition.

An individual can experience stress through emotional, physical and mental strain or tension. But some people feels pleasure or finds comfort in a situation that can be stressful to others. This is commonly called good stress which is said to be beneficial to humans. This means that stress is a very intriguing and subjective phenomenon and it's effects could highly be focused on case to case basis.

If you can't define stress, how do we measure it? Measuring stress can somehow be achieved through analyzing our personal response to the things we desire. Our emotional feelings plays a great role in identifying stress symptoms and most of the time, we are affected without knowing it.

A different sensation and mental attitude can be a sign of simple stress attack. A varied symptoms like anxiety and depression are always associated with mental stress. Irritation to people and environment can be considered factors that causes stress.

But did you know that stress can also cause positive benefits? Yes, a recent study by the American Institute of Stress suggest that stress can improve productivity in both work and at home. However, good stress are ignored because people are focusing their attention to bad stress which are common behaviors to monitor or prevent diseases.

The study also suggests a very deep insight about the definition of stress. It says that this condition focuses on external and internal element of the body were interaction between the two are very critical.

stress factorsThe biopsychosocial of stress is the external component which is made up of external elements or environment while the internal components is consists of physiological and biochemical factors in the internal environment of the body. The interaction from both of these elements produces cognitive processes.

Once a bad response from these two elements, our cognitive functions alters resulting to harmful health effects. Because of this, stress are considered a contributing factors in many diseases like hypertension, headache, gastrointestinal disorders, skin problems, dizziness, short-breathing, depression, anxiety, cancer, cardiovascular diseases and many more.

Stress can also trigger aggressive behavior and irrational thinking. If you let your feelings out of control every now and then, your emotional and mental abilities can deteriorate in much more faster pace. But of course, it differs for each of us on how we react or respond to the things that can give us stress.

How to fight this condition? The answer also depends on how you react to things. Your body's response defines how you want to be affected by stress. It could give positive good stress or otherwise the bad stress. You have to find the right amount of stress that can literally gives you physical comfort, emotional stability and mental calmness. You have to learn how to utilize and transform all stress factors in your life, into a positive, productive and less self-destructive as much as possible.
