What causes Bell's Palsy? Like other weird health conditions, Bell's Palsy has no known causes and its development would highly depend on other diseases. Researchers suggests viral infections can cause this condition such as herpes simplex or zoster, which triggers facial nerve inflammation that results to Bell's Palsy.
Some of the known factors that can cause this condition are HIV infection, lyme disease, ear infection and sarcoidosis. Additionally, the following conditions are risk factors for this disease.
Treatment methods are focused on alleviating the source of the nerve damage. Most often with those with mild conditions, treatment is not necessary. Anti-viral drug and anti-inflammatory medications can help reduce the swelling of the nerves and muscles if the cause is viral.
Some traditional remedies includes acupuncture and biofeedback, a therapy that uses electronic devices which mainly teaches to control vital functions which are said to be unconscious. However, an overly damaged nerve caused by Bell's Palsy are untreatable.
If you are suffering from Bell's Palsy, I suggest that you consult your doctor for complete and correct diagnosis and proper treatment.
